Can we keep Gage?

Another Reese question not to be forgotten.

About a week ago one evening we were sitting on the living room floor playing with Gage. Reese was loving on him and ask me "mom can we keep him?" I told her well sure we can! Reese then said "Thank you!"

That simple. I guess we have to keep Gage since I told Reese we would.

Reading with Reese

Wanted to write down a fun moment I had with Reese so I won't forget it.

While reading her new book from Kyleigh and Kole "Birdie's Big Girl Shoes", which by the way is the most perfect book for her, she stopped me mid-sentence...told me we needed to use our imagination and jump in the book. I asked her why and she said because the dog is chewing on the shoe and we need to take it from him. So, we jumped in, took the shoe from the dog and jumped out.

Been a while...

Well, so much for keeping up with this like I'd planned. A new year's resolution poof!

I'm gonna try again.

Quick update on what's new in our little world.
Reese is doing her second session of gymnastics and really likes it. She has mastered the forward roll and can do the balance beam at lot faster pace than in the beginning and by herself!
She is also doing swim lessons twice a week for thirty minutes for four weeks and is enjoying that was well.

I joined a Mom's group to make friends. They have weekly play dates which are fun.
She also made several friends in her classes and I've befriended the moms and have met up at the park a couple times.

Gage is just along for the ride. Easy going little guy that weighs a ton!
At his six month check up last week he topped the scales at 23 pounds 8 oz and 29" long!
We went today to get him some shoes for Easter at Stride Rite since his plump, wide and round little feeties won't fit into the cheap cute Target and Wal-Mart shoes.
I ran into this problem as well with Reese.
Reese took some pictures of Gage trying on his first pair of shoes so we could show Daddy since he wasn't there. She sometimes get some pretty good shots, these turned out okay, but captured the moment.
Gage also has pretty much mastered being able to sit up by himself. I still stick several pillows behind him just in case.
He tried the swing at the park for the first time monday and really seemed to like it.

Casey impressively built two above ground garden boxes in two afternoons (with no written plans, that he likes to add) for our veggies we are going to grow this spring. The look really good! One has dirt and the other is empty. We are waiting a couple more weeks before we plant to make sure there are not any more surprise snow storms heading our way!

We are happy happy for Aunt Sarah who got engaged to Preston on St.Patrick's Day!
We are looking forward to meeting our buddy Schafer's new little brother Anderson!
We are ready for the Easter bunny then it's time for our niece/cousin Ellis Averi to arrive!
We can't wait to love the little lady!

instant gratification

i've experienced lately how early a little human wishes for instant gratification.
visiting santa clause in the mall. after waiting in line with all the other little ones in there red plaid dresses and sweater vests it was reese and gage's turn to sit on santa's lap. reese could hardly wait to tell him what she NEEDED for Christmas. reese coy and bashful, as we all know she is not, sat on sants's lap head bowed down and little eyes looking up at him. he was a good santa, a jolly old elf, might have been the man himself. he asked if she had been a good big sister this year. yes, she said. then proceeded to say i'd like a pink scooter and a white refrigerator.
snap a $17 picture. give the kid a coloring book. then on with the next kiddo.
gage slept thru it all. woke up in time to have his picture take with eyes open and quickly went right back to sleep once back in the stroller.
so while waiting with reese and gage while casey was paying and getting the picture reese says to me...where's my frigerator mama? i knelt down to hear here better in the bustle of the Christmas shoppers in the loud mall. your what? my frigerator? where is it?
she had the most honest, sincere face asking me this.
oh, goodness. i had to laugh. oh, no honey. i said. you don't get the refrigerator now. you have to wait until Christmas. oh, she said.
there you have it. talked to the bearded man, told him what i wanted, now where is it?
then another instance last night in our living room.
gage has been drooling quit a bit lately and fussier than usual so we wondered if he could possibly be teething. of course we googled it and yes, babies as early as four months can get teeth. not that we really know or think he is teething, we found the teething rings, sterilized and chilled them to see if we could relived his discomfort. none of which helped, but the story i'm trying to tell is about reese.
while gage is fussing and all the finding the teething rings and googling is going on observant reese asks me what's wrong with gage. i told her that he might be getting his teeth like she has. i can see her brain wheels turning as she touches her teeth with he fingers. teeth? she said. yes, see he doesn't have any yet like you do. oh, she said. the evening goes on. gage finally goes to sleep. we have dinner, play and read a book then gage wakes up. as i am saying hi to gage and getting him out of the bouncy seat reese asks me across the room, does he have teeth now mama? i smile. no, not yet.
last one, but a good one and short. similar to the teeth story. when gage first came home and we were teaching her to be gentle etc. that gage was little we told her that when he was older they could play and have so much fun together. he took a nap and when he awoke reese wanted to know if he was older now so they could play.
it starts innocently and instantly at an early age...

welcome to my world

i should have started doing this blog thing months, well, probably about three years ago when our first little person arrived. however, better now than never. most who read this will know that i can not spell worth a darn and grammatical errors will happen so that will be excused and over looked from here on out being that this is MY blog.
i was so well organized and every thing had a way and place in my life before reese and gage. i should actually say before casey, leeroy, navin, reese and gage. that in itself could be a whole story, but this blog was to give me a place to jot down and not to forget all the fun things that i get to experience being a mommy to reese and gage. the things they say and do make my life worth while. i should not forget to add the man that makes me the wife and mommy i am to them as well in all this. anyhoo, welcome to my world. i hope to use this in place of a post it note, baby book that is not being completed as hoped now that i have another human being to care for, or a spare napkin, baby wipe or my head to write and remember the blessed life i have with casey, reese and gage.
